Some CBers seem to think NIL is killing college athletics, but paying players is a problem that's been going on forever and was constantly getting worse. And if schools were willing to pay over half a million back when the improper benefits had to be well hidden and there were fewer bidders, then it was inevitable that the price would go up when the market became laissez-faire.
NIL may have somewhat increased how much money players can make, but it's still a far better system than what came before (at least as implemented by the NCAA).
