If you judge everything based on results then you are right. That also makes you a horrible analyst.
Shohei is literally the best hitter in the NL. 2 outs and a base open with a RH pitcher on the mound you go after the 151 OPS+ guy rather than the 177 OPS+ guy.
And sometimes that 151 guy goes yard and you live with it.
