Jackson's changes were worse because he fundamentally changed the nature of certain characters.

I do agree that the series might not make the 5 seasons because there are a lot of people who, like you, don't like it.

Personally, I thought The Acolyte was much, much worse, because in the end, it failed at the number one message of Star Wars: there should always be hope that good will prevail. Acolyte ends on a complete downer and there are no characters to root for.
