experiences I (a non-athlete BYU grad) share with the athletes. One thing I fear with the brave new world of NIL/unlimited transfer is that BYU athletes will lose their demographic and religious distinctiveness. It has been easy historically to root for all BYU athletes regardless of their religion/RM status, but if the athletes were 100% transient merceneries, I don't know how I would feel. I mean, I would wish them well. I just don't know if I would feel like they actually represent my culture and my people or if I am just rooting for laundry at that point.
