I guess I'm thinking if the team is 6-6, and also avoid some of the embarrassing beat downs of last year, that this could be a positive sign going forward. Maybe it doesn't pan out and you then have three more years of 5-7 win teams, but there's no guarantee that bringing in a new guy will be an improvement. BYU would still have the same set of advantages and disadvantages in recruiting they've always had, and there might also be a year or two where the new guy is trying to deal with the aftermath of guys transferring out of the program as the coach they'd come for is gone.
