I don't know if all of Utah's methods were legal, but nobody has presented any evidence that they were. That said, it was obvious that Utah, at times, was correctly guessing the offensive play call at significantly higher rates than normal. I expect their defense to take a step back now that most if not all teams will stop using signs.

I also expect OU's Venables to take a step back as a defensive play caller. It was obvious when he was at Clemson that there were too many plays where his guys knew with a certainty which play was coming. Ergo, it was obvious they knew the signs. But again, no one has ever presented evidence that Clemson used illegal methods to obtain and decipher the signs.
