I actually thought the interplay between
those two was the best part of season 1. Evil is often depicted in LOTR in the form of violence and ugliness. It never feels appetizing or tempting.

But Sauron’s evil in the last episode of Season 1 is subtle and manipulative and tempting, more like how we face evil today.

He cozied up to her in Numenor and after fighting alongside her convinced her to say “I felt it too” which he was causing her to think was love. I see the “cosmic connection” to be more related to being in the presence of great power. Pretty similar to Rey and Kylo Ren.
