their thing. I can sit right to the side of the entrance of our hive and watch them come and go without any protection. One year we had robber bees invade our hive. It was so fun to watch the bees fight off intruders. It was almost like WWE for bees. Remember all the bees are female (except drones). I got a kick of watching them defend their turf. The guard bees at the entrance would jump on the robber beenand then pull at their wings and generally try to dismember them. They would tumble to the ground (our hive is about a foot off the ground) and not let go until the robber bee took off or was killed. The whole interaction of bees is just so much fun to watch.
