Dear asdf1986,
You have not provided any details pertaining to your pessimism. So I don’t know the exact words, stats, or reasons that contribute to your mopiness, so I will give you what I can.
Reasons to be optimistic, even excited, about BYU, our team this year, and football in general:
- Football brings people not just together, but BACK together. We rally around familiar traditions, friends, family, and fans we grew up enjoying BYU football with. Whether sitting next to them on a bleacher in the shade of the south end zone or texting them from your couch as you stream, BYU football brings us all BACK.
- BYU football, despite the ups and downs, is good for the soul because of the legends who’ve made it great to watch and cheer for. Whether you’re childhood hero was Jimmy Mac, Steve Young, Ty Detmer, Chad Lewis, Rob Morris, Luke, Jamaal, Harline, Hall, Hill, or any Kaufusi, we love our boys in blue.
- Our team has more depth this year and the power brokers of the Big 12 Texas and Oklahoma are gone. With the addition of old rivals and some new, we find ourselves in a conference with some of the best football and fans this good country has to offer.
- Despite questions to be answered in key positions, take Kalani and the rest of the coaching staff at their word when they say this team has a bad taste in their mouth from last year, and with the honeymoon phase over, our guys have something to prove, and they will have a chip on their shoulder.
- Summer is over. The temperature is dropping. The off season is coming to an end. Soon the crisp cool fall air will greet your face, and a chill will run down your spine, simply because… it will soon be Gameday.
Go Cougs!!
