This year.
Option 1: What made rising so good is he’s a big boy that can run. He had major leg surgery that has kept him out of the game for almost 2 years. Most people wouldn’t ever come back and compete at a high level after that kind of injury. If he wants any shot at making the NFL he can not get injured or his fb career is over. Saying that, he’s going to have to rely on his arm more than any other time in his career. Play calls won’t be designated for a QB run. Hopefully his arm talent has improved, he can’t rely on his legs all season to keep him out of trouble.
Option 2: Maybe you do get Cam back 100% but that’s not going to last all season. With anywhere from 12-16 games played this year he won’t make it through running wild each game. Look at Taysom, dude was a beast and every time he got hurt and came back you got the same Taysom Hill back but it never lasted very long before he got hurt again. Props to him now in the NFL for not having any major injuries probably because his reps are so limited.
If Cam gets hurt you’re going to rely on a 5’ 10” 4 star freshman qb that has serious talent but has only played HS ball with amazing players around him. What happens when the talent level becomes more balanced between teams?
I wouldn’t be feeling so confident as a Yewt fan. Especially with all the hype the team is getting. Some is warranted but the QB goes and so does the rest of the team.
