I would provide meals for work-chop firewood, plant vegetables, collect water, etc. People are a resource and a force multiplier. I would expect God to bless those who generously help out their fellow man. Besides, what good does one year do if you are selfish and starve 13 months later? No one lives forever.

Instead, in that scenario, I see the year supply as an opportunity to get organized as a community and turn all our lawns and open spaces into crops and real self-sufficient homesteads.

However, I would also be prepared as a community to defend from marauders with ill intent.
