Most of the city is fine. Stay away from market street and union square.
and the few blocks around them.
Everything else is fine. If you are renting a car, park in parking garages whenever possible. Don’t leave valuables in a rental car.
No problems anywhere outside SF proper. All are very safe accept Oakland. If you go to Oakland, avoid the flatlands, and you should be fine. Don’t even mess with the flatlands
If the weather is nice, try the drive from SF to Santa Cruz. It’s amazing.
