Yes, this is definitely the position that could make or break this BYU team, on
defense, but even overall, as the time on the field for our offensive and defensive units has been shown the last two years to be a huge part of success - more offensive positions = more possible points, and shorter defensive possessions keep the defense more fresh and aggressive. It's huge, really. Long sustained drives by the other team have been BYU's nemesis the last 2-3 years, and injuries have played a key role in that. All other positions groups look solid, IMO, with good depth, and key returners, but the group with the most ??? is DT / NT, for sure.

They may surprise, as Nelson has shown to be really good and very aggressive at times when healthy, IMO. I found myself saying, "who was that beast" many times the last 2 years, only to find out the guy who made the aggressive / physical play was Nelson, so I have optimism, especially with the other guys in the 2/4 deep for DT / NT. But our DE's and LB's can't tee it up as much, or even properly fill the gaps, and set the edge, if the DT / NT aren't holding down (or better yet collapsing down) the middle.
