and it was annoying him. I kinda shrugged it off, but the next few weeks he continues complaining about it. He doesnt know who it is but is sure it’s somebody trying to mess with him. I was telling him that it’s probably not malicious and the person doesn’t realize it’s annoying, so I suggested that he leave a note or sign on his desk to ask them to stop.

The next week, the first thing he shows me is a picture of an empty cup right on top of the note he left on his desk asking people to not put cups there. He was pissed.

I was out of ideas so I decided to check with HR. They immediately sprung into action treating it like a harassment issue. They were equipped for this and installed a bunch of hidden cameras around his desk (and they wouldn’t even tell me where they were- I didn’t see anything obvious). But right then the cups just stopped appearing on his desk. After 2 weeks of hidden cameras but no cups, they finally came and pulled them to go surveil some other desk.
