A couple things on this:
First, a big reason Utah's schedule is easy is because the Big 12 has strategically tried to build it's schedule so the the preseason favorites aren't playing each other as much. Maybe quit griping about being gifted the second-easiest schedule out of all 16 teams.
Second, when you say "this is like dropping 2021 Utah into the Mountain West" ... FPI currently ranks Utah 18 spots below where they ended up in 2021.
It would seem the difference between the Big 12 and dropping Utah into the Mountain West and into the Big 12 is there are 11 teams ranked higher than Boise State and all 16 teams rank higher than the 3rd-best SDSU team ... that Utah lost to in 2021, if memory serves.
Maybe one last thing to think about ... if Utah's schedule is so cupcake soft, why is FPI projecting them to go 8-4 against it?
