When they redid that exit they took a great interchange (bad road as mentioned below) and turned it into a parking lot. Added multiple lights and a U-turn to what was a great interchange before the reconstruction. Going from Provo Center to I-15 south is probably on average about 15-20 minutes longer than it was before reconstruction in the afternoon/ early evening. Almost every I-15 interchange was sped up and improved with I-15 reconstruction. Center was made dramatically worse.
Not that Provo Center was ever a good interchange. Dumping a massive number of cars (only exit in a 6 mile stretch) onto a road with a 15 MPH speed limit, speed bumps and cars coming in and out of traffic from side roads and chaotic on street parking is a disaster. I totally expected they would move the exit to 300 south or something. No, let's make things much worse.
The section in Spanish Fork from 6/ SF Canyon to I-15 is definitely another problem area.
