Tips for comparing contractor quotes for basement finish?
Any tips for making an informed decision on choosing a contractor to finish your basement?

I got 4 bids. 3 of them are fairly close in price (about 10-15% difference from each other), but one is significantly more expensive than the other 3 (the price difference between them and the second most expensive is about twice as big as the price difference between the second most expensive and the least expensive). It's fairly apples-to-apples as far as I can tell, but there are probably some slight differences.

On the other hand, 3 of the 4 say they can finish the basement in about 8-12 weeks, while one says 4-5 months. Unfortunately it's the least expensive one who says they will take the longest.

As far as communication goes, the least expensive one has been the best at communicating, but I don't think the others are necessarily bad. As far as being personable and professional, I think they are all good options. One contractor's methods did seem a little more primitive; the quote was less detailed, included a crude drawing of the layout of the basement not drawn to scale, but on the other hand that particular contractor is often recommended on our community Facebook page.

Are there things to look for that I'm not considering? Is there a good way to tell if one quote is less expensive because they're more likely to cut corners, or that the faster ones are more likely to cut corners (or that the one who will take longer will be more thorough and less likely to cut corners)? I've considered that the lowest bid isn't necessarily (and often isn't) the best bid, but I feel like I did a fair amount of vetting which contractors I got quotes from (mainly community recommendations, to be honest) that the lowest may not be a bad thing after all.
