are some thoughts I had last week at our Stake youth conference that I had written down. Perhaps it can bring a measure of comfort. 

In one of the sessions they talked about the questions that the Brother of Jared raised to the Lord in Chapter 2 of Ether.

In Ether chapter 2, the Brother of Jared had asked the Lord three questions: how to get air, how they would steer the ship, and how they would get light. The Lord told him immediately how to get air, and told him to present his own plan on how to get light; but the Lord didn’t provide a direct answer at the time of how the ship would be steered. Later, in chapter 6, we are told that the “furious winds” were the means by which the barges were guided across the sea. 

How many times do we plead with the Lord for answers to questions that we have and problems that we face but we don’t feel there is an answer? However, the answers will come, in the Lord‘s time.

The Lord allows, and I think sometimes causes, many furious winds to blow in our lives. At the time we may just see the chaos, pain, and uncertainty of our trials and challenges, but if we are patient, we will see that the Lord is guiding us to our own promised land.

So, that’s how we feel right now. Lots of “furious winds” tossing us around. But we know things are working for our good. We’re just doing what we can, enjoying the “air” and “light” we are receiving, and trying to be patient amidst the “furious winds” that are undoubtedly driving us where we need to go.
