Ever they want for snacks before the flight. You can even have a kiosk right at the gate. This would allow flight attendants to focus on other passengers needs. Instead of having flight attendants greeting patients at the front of the aircraft and doing little meaningless things. They should be strategically placed every few rows with their primary task of lifting carry ons and placing in overhead bins.
All families with small kids, babies and children elderly needing assistance should be boarded last. No exceptions. This is just a couple of things off the top of my head.
