Are cats pets? Or just another creature who tolerates you in their space?
Dogs are pack animals. They really do want to part of the family. That has it's good and bad parts.
Cats are not. They live in the same space as you, but are usually pretty independent and isolated from you. That has it's good and bad things as well.
