Springs have a life cycle. They are rated for a finite number of open/closes
When one goes, the other is likely to break in the near future.
$1000 is pretty steep though. Each spring retails for about $50-$75, and the cables are probably $20.
I guess I should go back to installing garage doors (I did them while in college) and clear $800 bucks for 30 minutes of work.
