I’d argue that the job of the handicapper is to put a line where an equal amount of bets come in on either side. Given
That the over is -160, that means most of the money that has come in so far has been on the over. That doesn’t mean the sharps are betting that—it is more likely that it’s public money pushing the line.
As I understand it, the sharps usually wait until the last minute to make their bets, unless there is some kind of opportunity. I’m not sure the Utah line is indicative of educated bettors coming in on the side of Utah, it is more likely to be the general public.
Either way, it looks like Utah is expected to have a great season. From a BYU fan, I hope the casinos win big on this one.
