Can always take a little further northern route. From Salt Lake, I-15 up into Canada.
Then hang a left at Calgary over to Banff, up through Jasper, then out past Hinton, then north to Whitecourt, which puts you back on the highway and on to Grand Prairie, and then Dawson Creek where the Alcan starts.
The Alcan to past Watson Lake, then, south to Hyder. That section of road is really fine, maybe a couple spots to watch for potholes, and no cell service between Fort Nelson and Watson Lake.
The worst part of the Alcan is the section between Destruction Bay, Yukon Territory, and Tok, Alaska. You wouldn’t be seeing that part.
