problem with them is both companies use a turbo-charged engine in everything within the past 8-10 years. Both manufacturers have problems with teh wastegates on their turbos failing between 100K and 150k miles. And that's right in the mileage range where most of the 2014-2016 luxury cars for $10k fall. I just had the same issue on my wife's '21 Honda, and it was a $3000 repair to replace the turbo. It would probably be closer to $5k for a BMW or Mercedes. I took those two manufactuers off my list for that reason. They no longer make a non-turbo engine in their entry level offerings.
