We got a couch from a friend about 2 weeks ago. After having the couch for a few days, I got some bug bites and saw maybe 2 small insects on the couch. Our friends texted us 1 week ago and said their cat has fleas. My wife and I freaked out and deep cleaned the house all last week. During the whole deep cleaning process, I looked and couldn't find any signs of fleas.

Question: Should we have an exterminator come in and spray our house? How long can fleas live in a house with no pets? We would spray our house just to be safe but we've got a 1 year old and a 3 year old and don't want to spray unless we have to.

I've tried scouring the internet on this subject and there are too many differing opinions. (Probably because so many companies are trying to sell you on pest control)
