I think the Uintas are a bit overrated. The lakes are pretty, but lakes everywhere are nice.
Red Castle Lake and Christmas Meadows are amazing, but most of the Uintas are extensive, half-dead forests of lodge pole pines. There's no denying that. Having said that, I hike in the Uintas several times every summer.
