And not just because of the horrendous ending, though the crash and burn was entertaining. The coverage of the show was ludicrous. Countless articles every week across every news outlet in the country. Just nonsense. All for, as Ian McShane put it, "[REDACTED FOR CB] and dragons."

It was performatively shocking and got average Joes to watch fantasy BS that never made any sense and everyone pretended it was Shakespeare because it had some cool battle scenes and they thought Peter Dinklage's little quips were so clever.

No comparison to stuff like The Wire, The Shield, etc. A single episode of Deadwood has better dialogue than all of GOT.

It had some great actors, but largely in smaller roles. It leaned way too heavily on some terrible ones: Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, Sophie Turner, etc.

Think about how discussed and written about it was at the time versus how much lasting cultural impact it has had. Avatar-esque.

Every person who owns anything on which is written "I drink, and I know things” should lose their right to vote.
