That it’s a Johnny Come Lately is irrelevant to my point. They pay top dollar and win trebles, so it’s a top market for talent.
The economics of the MLS are much better and more sustainable. Right now the salary cap is too restrictive to get the best talent, but that is changing quicker than many people realize and in due course, players will be able to make more in the MLS than a team like Bournemouth and even bigger teams like West Ham and Newcastle United, etc. I’m not saying 5 years, but probably in 15-20.
Relegation and no salary cap really makes for a bad business model. People can debate the merits as a fan, but for making money it’s really unattractive. Which is why MLS teams are already more valuable than a number of EPL teams.
