Counterargument from a dad of teens: Please don't overpay them!
I want my kids to learn to work, and also how to manage money. The latter is kind of difficult when they make too much. My 16-year-old works in a restaurant, and after tithing, fast offerings, savings for college/mission, and 10% into his Roth account ... he still has way too much money. He eats out all the time, and will door dash a subway sandwich if he's hungry (that one cracks me up). I'd kind of like him to have a bit more money scarcity (and he already pays for half of all his sports, pays his own cell phone, buys his own clothes, entertainment, etc.).

I know, not the biggest problem in the world. He'll be all right.

My main point is that I don't think these teenagers need more money. Pay them what you think is fair, which IMO is minimum wage. You don't need to go beyond that.

Now, college students ... that's different. They often could use the money and are often struggling more. Same with newlyweds.
