The speed of the leader determines the rate of the pack…
…a very large part of this huge turnaround with BYU basketball is due to the energy and vision the new coach brought to the program. He saw what he wanted BYU basketball to become and he made it his focus to shape and mold BYU basketball into that. The rest of the program fell into place behind him as he set the pace.

Unfortunately I don’t see that kind of vision and energy from Kalani about football. He seems content with having had a few good seasons and doesn’t seem to be interested in evolving and keeping pace with the way the sport is evolving. He wants to have the BYU program his former coach and mentor had (Lavell). Only problem is the sport has changed 1000% and he needs to keep pace with that.

For Kalani and football it needs to happen like a circle of success in 4 areas with:
1. momentum on the field (winning) and
2. player development for the next level,
3. NIL support,
4. which helps drive recruiting. The recruiting then drives momentum on the field (winning).

After that run of success we had with Zach, Baylor and Jaren at QB we failed to continue recruiting and developing the QB depth. We also failed to continue recruiting and developing next level talent at DL and last season we lost momentum and saw a slide back towards 2017 on both sides of the ball.
