AC air handler in the attic was squealing a few days ago, then yesterday kids smelled an electric smoke smell upstairs. Shut the unit down, let the smell clear out (we weren't sure if the smell was coming from the dryer or the AC) and then started it back up. It ran for a bit then quit running and won't come back on. Youtube videos are increasing my confidence I can take this on. I'll test the capacitor and control board before I tear things apart too much. Am I nuts to try this?
