He'd worked homicide in Vegas during the mob years, became intensely involved with missing and exploited children cases, and was nationally recognized as a firearms instructor. He knew his stuff. And he'd seen many horrible things during his career. He told us over and over, "Carry OC spray." We laughed that we'd often leave his house with cookies from his wife and little bottles of OC spray from him. Yeah, we joked. But we carry the spray.
