They have a chip in the ball that can detect hand balls. Do the same for players.
Many teams already have their players wear trackers for work rate, location on the pitch, etc. So have those chips essentially talk to each other in relation to their position on the field. And use the chip location for offsides.

Sure, it would "shift" the offsides to essentially the center of the player's body as opposed to their most forward body part, but it would be consistent.

If we're going to use tech let's use it.
