I've spent a lot of my career in Western Europe, where the banks and the government are very comfortable with the middle class staying put as much as possible (stability over mobility).  I'm not saying those are good or bad values, but I've always admired the mobility of the US Middle Class.  The current economic environment makes me feel more constrained.
