How do you define above avg athlete?
What’s an avg vertical leap by a D-1 college athlete? You don’t think Fouss can jump higher than what ever is the avg? Athleticism is more than just the measurement of your vertical leap. It’s similar to football and the difference between a 40 time ran on a track vs actual game speed playing with pads and moving through cuts, changing speeds, playing through contact and closing on the ball, etc. Some guys show it on a straight track in spandex while others show real athleticism in game situations.

I 100% disagree that he is only at best avg athletically. He’s a quick leaper and despite being the shortest 5 man in the Big12 last season was constantly able to get his shot off over the top of much taller/longer 5’s and while absorbing insane amounts of contact often times in large crowds (defenses often collapsed on him or tried to bring extra bodies when he got the ball in the paint). Go back and watch games and you’ll see he rarely got his shot blocked and this was with him battling through multiple lower leg injuries last season and never being 100% healthy and constantly facing crowds of defenders and tons of contact.

He might not be the explosive leaper that Keita is but conversely Keita isn’t as explosive when he has to play through as much contact or in heavy traffic as Fouss does regularly. There are guys with really high verticals in the 40+” range, like Josh Sharp, who look great dunking in warmups, in dunk contests or in the open court but then they can’t maintain that vertical advantage in actual game situations in traffic where they have to absorb and play through contact. Fouss can, and he shows off his quickness and leaping ability getting off the ground and is consistently able to shoot over taller/longer guys despite being sandwiched in between multiple defenders.
