The deal with Clarkson was undoubtedly made in part as a bridge to get above the minimal cap as they had to pay someone. Unfortunately it’s still in doubt whether they can trade him because he played so bad, even with his number going down on years 2-3 of the deal. The problem is regardless the coach choosing to play him starter minutes which takes away developmental minutes for the young players. Just play him 20 minutes or so off the bench if you can’t trade him. He won’t help you win, which is good, and a lot of fans love him.
As far as Kessler there is more value to a rim rolling defensive big than you’re giving him credit for. The problem is that it’s a mess trying to play him with Collin’s, which was another horrible move by Ainge. Depending on matchups, Hardy shouldn’t be playing Collin’s as much as he does. While he’s okay offensively, he is not a good defender at the starting center position.
