Mark Comer of the RBC said something similar a few weeks ago on Criddle’s show.
He didn’t get into numbers but said football is allocated exactly what basketball is. He was responding to the question “why is basketball getting all the $$ but football isn’t?”

It has been discussed elsewhere that Kalani has chosen to basically split the kitty equally in order to build depth and team culture, rather than throw the bag at a handful of elite players. I think that’s the right answer right now and if you look at our recruiting results for the 2024 class and the early outlook for the 2025 class, his approach is why we are now regularly beating Utah and other P5s for mid-upper tier recruits- our NIL game for football is competitive for that tier of guys but we aren’t throwing the bag at the really big fish.

It would be great if the football program got a couple million extra to continue doing what we’re doing now but also have the ability to throw the bag at a top shelf QB or difference maker at a skill position, especially out of the transfer portal.
