you figure it out, I think it becomes "easy". But then you have to learn how to juggle while navigating an off-road obstacle course on the unicycle. The complexity is astounding to me. I've been working on it and it is so very difficult.
If chords with altered chords/versions, tight/spread chording weren't enough, then there is the entire rhythmic alterations that lay on top of each other, combined with walking baselines. Then for fun lets throw in rootless chords, Lydian/Dorian/Mixolydian scale structures, and chord substitutions because who wants to use the actual chords written? Then don't forget about the leading tone. Oh and now coordinate this with someone while they play "random" notes on their instrument at the same time.... It makes it amazing and totally mind-warpingly difficult.
