my Dad trained as a bombadier on a B-17 but the war ended before he and his..

...group finished training. He later was a navigator flying military transports. He and his air wing participated in the Hungarian Airlift in the early 50's before the Soviets rolled in and took control. He was very fortunate that he flew for 26 yrs and served through 3 wars (WWII, Korean and Vietnam) and never had to be in any hot spots.
