If a MLB pitcher threw me the same pitch in the same location, I'd eventually be able to get a bat on it, and eventually be able to put it in play as a fair ball.

If he instead mixed up pitches and locations as he would in a game, I'd have no chance at ever making contact beyond pure luck.
