The commentator said that the WNBA from the start has used the wrong angle since the start to market themselves. He said their main mantra is that you should watch mainly for woke reasons and not the entertainment value of the game itself.
And I think he is mostly right. From the beginning, the WNBA and its affiliated groups have chastised people for not watching. If you didn't watch it was because your were at some level anti-female or anti some woke thing going on.
Now, the WNBA is suddenly changing its tune because they actually have a player people want to watch. They now have to shift their marketing to the game itself and specifically one player and they really don't know how to handle that at this point.
