In VA now they don't say any specific lane is closing.

They just say lane closed ahead, stay in lane until merge point. Which I think is better language than saying left lane closed ahead. Bec then idiots will get over to the right lane and ignore the wide open left lane and extend the backup.

Stop telling people which lane is closed too soon and the problem will solve itself.
