Two ways/reasons I like cruises, 1) pack and unpack once but see multiple destinations, 2) use it as a sort of tasting
menu of locations to decide where I want to come back and spend more time later on.
Obviously you are very limited in what you can see and experience in a few hours with a shore excursion, so I'm really picky about those. We were in Cozumel a few weeks ago (been there 3-4 times now) and this time we did an excursion that was just my family and our driver cooking and eating together with a family in their home. We helped make the tortillas, salsa, etc. We got a tour of his small farm and all of the various fruits, vegetables, peppers, etc. that he grows there that we ate. We cooked and ate on their back patio with parents, son, and grandson and ate an amazing meal of tacos together while listening to Manà.
