Some thoughts on Resident Alien whilst in the middle of season 2.
I started watching this on the recommendation of a friend. I really enjoy some aspects of the show. Alan Tudyk is marvelous. Whenever he's on screen, he chews it up and does a fantastic job. I sometimes wonder if his character is a metaphor for what it's like to be a high functioning person with autism in our world. But the rest of the cast is just not very interesting. I don't care at all about Darcy, Asta, the mayor and his wife, or the two town cops. For a comedy, the show isn't that funny unless Tudyk is on the screen, and the overarching problems with these shadow organizations or rival aliens are spread too thin over the 2nd season, which makes me feel like there's just too many episodes. At this point I'm only really watching it because my wife wants to, but I would rather move onto something else.
