The Greek name of the goddess of victory is certainly pronounced
with two syllables, the second being a long "ee" sound. Just as with other Greek names spoken in English: Aphrodite, Circe, Persephone, Phoebe, Psyche, etc.
Funny thing though: apparently the Greek pronunciation of the first syllable is "nee," so both camps have departed from the Greek there
