My do it yourself bbq island.
Here’s a shot of my bbq island on a dirty, windy evening. I did get a little carried away with the design. If you are interested in building one, check into bbqtubes.com for steel frame modules that are easy to assemble. (I customized with a pop-out front, multiple finishes, wider serving area and combined bar/backsplash). Cover with cement board, then apply stucco, tile and/or stacked stone. LED lighting and sink are nice, but caused a lot of work. I luckily had gas, water and power already stubbed out to my patio. You could do a simpler version for a lot less money and time. I went with a high end Hestan grill head too. Separate Humphrey’s smoker. The whole project took a lot more time and money than I expected, but I look at it as an investment in my house. Plus, it’s beautiful and makes me happy to look out at from my window.
