Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps, LA Galaxy, and even some of the lamer ones like the San Jose Earthquakes, Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, and New England Revolution are such better names than Sporting Kansas City, Real Salt Lake, or Austin FC.

I mean in San Diego you have amazing beaches, a rich military history, surfing, etc. So many good possibilities and yet you land on San Diego FC with a non-descript chrome ball design?

Even in the EPL I prefer names like Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal and Wolves (I know it’s a nickname).

I don’t get the need to fake it. Relatedly, I don’t think Utah Hockey Club is a good permanent name.
