Then we came up to the scene of a man laying face up in the road, just as somebody walked up and checked for a pulse. Behind him about 20-30 yards was a semi truck. According to the news story I read that night, this guy and a lady were standing BEHIND the semi when an SUV plowed into them, which launched him the full length of the semi plus the additional 20-30 yards. The lady was smashed to bits between the SUV and the rear of the semi. I saw what appeared to be body parts hanging from the rear bumper bar of the semi as we drove by.
