India went into their last match in a three-way race for 2nd place in Group A behind the 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar. They needed at least a draw in their last match at Qatar to have a chance to take 2nd place, but they gave up a halftime lead to lose 2-1, sealing their elimination. India’s loss opened it up for Afghanistan to take 2nd place with a win or draw in their match against Kuwait. But they couldn’t do it, falling 1-0 and allowing Kuwait to move from last place to 2nd place to advance instead.

Malaysia got the win they needed to stay alive, beating Taiwan 3-1. But they also needed Kyrgyzstan to lose by at least six goals to Oman, and that didn't happen (Kyrgyzstan drew that match). Unfortunately, Malaysia failed to advance to the next round of Asian qualifying.

Syria got drilled 5-0 by Japan very early this morning. They could've still advanced to the next round of qualifying if North Korea would have lost their match later in the day, but Kim Jong Un saw his team get a victory over Myanmar to pip Syria to 2nd place in the group and push the Syrians to 3rd place and elimination.

With China losing earlier in the morning to South Korea, Thailand had hope of sneaking ahead of the Chinese into 2nd place with a win over Singapore. They got the win they needed to pull even with China on points, but fell one goal short of winning the goal differential tiebreaker. China advanced instead.

Vietnam went into the final matchday with hopes of potentially advancing to the next round of qualifying. But before they could play their last match against Iraq, their elimination was sealed earlier in the day when Indonesia beat the Philippines to pull four points clear of Vietnam in the table in 2nd place.
