Holmoe's in a tough situation with the FB team...
If the team overachieves (6-6 or better record and a bowl bid) the pressure is off. Good showing for 2nd year in the B12.

If the team underachieves (4-8 or worse) the pressure would be on Holmoe to make/force some changes. Maybe it's just a new OC and offensive coaches, but depending on actual performance and results, could be time for a restart.

But what if BYU has an expected 5-7 record, playing OK-to-well in some games, but putting up a lackluster performance in others? Then what? Stand pat? Make minor changes? It does take some time to adjust to a P4 schedule and recruiting in that environment, especially with NIL and the portal. How restless will fans be with a 5-7 record?

Most prognosticators are predicting around a 5-7 record for BYU. Some are even saying they expect 4-8. Tough spot for Holmoe unless it's clear BYU has played better than their record reflects, or they have an unusually large number of injuries to key players. What happens if the defense plays well but the offense plays poorly?

I'm guessing that secretly Holmoe is hoping for either a much-better-than expected result or a much-worse-than-expected result. In either of those cases the path forward is a lot clearer than if BYU meets their mediocre expectations.

Thoughts?
